We were blessed yet again with wonderful weather and a fantastic group for our SIDS benefit run and walk on April 18, 2009. With over 160 walk ups on Saturday this Second year event went over 460 runners and walkers. The top time went to RYAN FENNELLY at 15:51 for the men and MEGAN GALLAGHER at 21:58 for the women. Awards where provided South Jersey Running and Triathlon Company for our overall male, female and age group winners. Prizes donated by the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Flyers were raffled using participants bib numbers. New in 2009 we had a 400 M run for all children ages 5 – 8 which was fantastic.
The goals for the NBD 5K Run for Life are; to raise awareness to SIDS, to raise much needed money for continued research for SIDS and provide a safe fun venue for family, friends, runners and walkers to celebrate life and the memory of our grand daughter Natalee and their loved ones lost to SIDS. Thanks to our wonderful supporters for their generosity and support as we were able to raise over $16,000.00 and make a final donation of $21,000. In the two years we have had this event we have been proud to have donated a total of $41,000 to the American SIDS Institute. A final note of recognition; this year we were joined by four local families who lost babies to SIDS. On the back of the runner’s shirt we created a list called Natalee’s Angels. This list recognizes babies lost to SIDS by families who raised donations and also attended our run this year. I’d like to thank each and every one of the families for helping to make this event so very special. Yes, this is a run; but it is also a time to gather, remember and rejoice in the special little wonders that made this day so special. |

Classified as the best cycling tour of the month by Bicycling magazine, the Gulf Coast Cycling Classic is a true gem. This 8th annual tour guides you along the most
beautiful beaches of the US and along breathtaking vistas according to USA Today and Conde Nast. It runs along the back roads of the scenic and working sponge harbor of Tarpon Springs. Then return to the Scottish town of Dunedin to enjoy a great lunch, great ale and camaraderie at Flanagan’s.
Amenities for pre-registered riders are a canvas tote, continental breakfast, well stocked support stations, post ride lunch. A medal will be provided for stamped Century finishers. There will also be a great raffle.
Rides: Medal century, 65, 35 mile rides and 20 mile kid’s medal ride.
This year’s tour is dedicated to the fight against SIDS (see www.sids.org) and proceeds are destined for the American SIDS Institute. An additional pledge per mile card can be downloaded at www.energybicycle.com. Your pledge card will be signed at the finish, to prove that you have ridden the distance pledged to your sponsor.
